History
In 1804 Janos VIDOS built a castle, which was later named in honor of owner (Castle VIDEOS).
In 1848 the Baron Mesnil became the new owner of the estate. His family repaired the castle.
In 1852, count Janos Shiraki became owner of the castle. This aristocratic family is one of the oldest Hungarian noble families, whose origin goes back to the Foundation of the Hungarian state.
In 1893, Ignatz Schreiber bought the castle from the count Shiraki. He furnished the estate with great convenience and taste. Around the castle was a very nice Park with an area of 26 hectares. Hence aristocratic family Koltay and on the basis of these possessions of the family Videos and Damian got their noble titles.
In 1932 Maria németh and jános / Johannes Grunauer bought the estate and the castle.
In 1945 the castle was looted. In the Communist era, the estate was nationalized.
In 1999, the castle was again transferred to private ownership. The new owner began renovations.
Village of Namekata is the oldest settlement, its name was often mentioned in archival documents from the time of Arpad. The first surviving written reference dates back to 1288. The population of Nemeskurty were small nobles, which was typical for this region Orbitec / Burgenland.
The area around Nemeskurty was known as the Western border point of the Kingdom of Hungary. That is the local population served as a professional soldier of the Hungarian king.
Today the religious affiliation of the village is partly Catholic, partly Lutheran. The Protestant Church dates back to the 18th century, restored Roman Catholic Church (cf. Turkish war) was built in 1865, in accordance with the plan of Miklos / Nicholas Ibla, who is the father of modern Hungarian architecture.
